Our Practice

Who we are

We provide physiotherapy, massage, clinical Pilates and exercise and rehab services to Albany and surrounding suburbs. We have one-on-one and semi-private classes and because our services are delivered by physiotherapists you can claim them on private health insurance with extras cover.

Why we're different

A "quick-fix" for your pain or injury might sound good, but over time is proven to be inconvenient, costly and ineffective in comparison to taking preventative measures. Our unique clinical approach, Results4Life®, keeps you on track towards optimal lifelong physical health.

Our guarantee

We are committed to your satisfaction and delivering the very best in physiotherapy care, customer service and outcomes. If you are not 100% satisfied with your experience at Back In Motion, we will refund your money and deliver your next session free.

Our Service Offering

done Physiotherapy

Quick-fixes or shortcuts are not something we strive for during your consultation. The swift management of your pain and symptoms is only the first step our team will take to help you achieve lasting results.

We believe in getting the right result the first time so you can get back to what you love without the threat of re-injury.

Our focus is not only on offering talented physiotherapists, but also delivering a great physiotherapy experience.

You will be surprised at all the physical health benefits that come with sticking to your personal treatment plan including improved flexibility, mobility and strength.

done Massage

When you get a massage from a physiotherapist you are benefiting from four plus years of dedicated university study on the human body.

Sporting clubs, athletes, and massage devotees see our expert physios and therapists for a reason: because we know your body and can identify the causes of aches, pains, and soreness, ensuring a better result every time.

A massage conducted by our physios will see a reduction in your aches and pains, whether caused by sport, injury or the stresses and strains of everyday life.

done Clinical Pilates

We offer individual and small group clinical Pilates classes taught by qualified professionals and physiotherapists. Unlike group classes at a gym, our approach to Pilates is clinically proven and specifically tailored to your needs. These tailored exercises target problem areas ensuring greater results and minimising the risk of injury re-aggravation.

You will use a combination of specialised Pilates equipment including reformers and trapeze table complimented by floor-based exercises depending on your needs. This brings about better targeting and resistance as you progress in your Pilates program.

done Exercise and Rehab

Whether you’re looking to increase your fitness or get back into exercise after time off or injury, an exercise and rehabilitation session will get you off to a good start.

Our physiotherapists can design programs to cater to your every need including weight loss, injury rehabilitation, fitness and endurance training as well as strengthening and toning.

Your physio knows your body and has the scientific and clinical knowledge to ensure your workout is both safe and caters to your abilities and previous injury history.

done Aged Care Physiotherapy

We provide a range of physiotherapy services for seniors and residencies in the community. We support aged care facilities, supported residential services, and retirement villages. We can also visit clients in the privacy of their own home.

Steff Kehoe

Steff graduated from AUT University in 2016, with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy and has been working as a musculo-skeletal physiotherapist since.  Prior to being a Physiotherapist, Steff emigrated to NZ from the UK and began three years of full time dance training with the Apollo theatre school where she received a diploma in Musical theatre and dance. She then went on to dance and teach professionally for several New Zealand based dance companies. During this time, Steff sustained numerous dance-related injuries all of which resolved successfully through intensive physiotherapy and this is where her passion for rehabilitation really began. In pursuit of being accepted into physio school, Steff attended the Elite International School of Beauty and Spa Therapies, graduated with a diploma in massage therapy and proceeded to be accepted onto the AUT Bachelor Physiotherapy programme. During her time as a student, Steff continued to dance professionally and work part time as a massage therapist at Waiwera Spa where she learnt many skills in the art of relaxation.

Having been a professional dancer, Steff understands the importance of physiotherapy to keep the body as functional as possible. She is a big fan of preventative physiotherapy to address muscular imbalances and believes everybody regardless of age or condition has potential to be more functional, flexible and comfortable. Steff is also passionate about the benefits of massage for stress management and relaxation. She has particular interest and experience working with tension headache and migraine and continues to expand her therapeutic skill this year with dry needling and acupuncture.

Outside of work, Steff continues to enjoy dance training, particularly in Jazz, ballet and commercial styles. She also loves to swim, surf, play water-polo with her dad, snowboard and spend time with family and friends. Steff is open minded, friendly and a real “people person”. She loves nothing more than getting to know her clients and helping them to build and achieve their goals whatever they may be.

Nicole Kwan

Physiotherapist & Clinical Pilates Instructor

Nicole moved to New Zealand from Malaysia to pursue a career in physiotherapy. She completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from University of Otago and will be pursuing her Postgraduate Certificate of Health Sciences (Acupuncture) with AUT in 2019. She is also a certified Pilates Instructor.

Nicole has experience in working with people of all ages, treating many types of musculoskeletal injuries and issues, be it acute or chronic. Nicole believes in the importance of treating the root of the problem instead of chasing pain. By doing so, she listens and treats the person holistically - looking at the whole body and taking into consideration various aspects. She also believes in the importance of injury prevention by optimizing movement. Too often, injuries are caused by muscular imbalances and plain old dysfunctions. To allow her to provide these services, Nicole is a certified practitioner in multiple different current world leading systems in physiotherapy – namely Functional Movement Systems (SFMA) and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT). These tools look at correcting dysfunctional movement patterns, identifying the source of the problem and maximizing results.

Some of her other expertise include Pre- & Post-Natal care, Pilates and Exercise Rehabilitation. She is also a certified Mckenzie MDT (Level 1) and Mulligan Concept (Level 1) practitioner. She also has experience working with rugby and football teams when she was in South Island. Although physiotherapists are trained in assessing, diagnosing and treating injuries, Nicole’s skillsets are beneficial as well for people who are not injured. Afterall, prevention is better than cure.

Nicole is also multilingual due to her background of growing up in a multiracial country. She speaks English, Bahasa Malaysia (Malay), Mandarin and Cantonese fluently. Outside of work, Nicole can be usually found satisfying her palette in some restaurant (big foodie!), doing aerial yoga or travelling abroad attending courses to enhance her physiotherapy skills.
